Choosing the Right Location
Select a spot with proper airflow and easy maintenance access. The compressor needs room for air circulation around the cooling fins. If mounting under the vehicle, add a splash guard to protect from water and debris. Avoid locations near exhaust components or other heat sources.
Electrical Setup
A yellow LED on the compressor indicates insufficient power supply. A healthy battery should maintain 12.0V to 12.5V while the compressor is running under a 50-amp charge. If voltage drops below this range, check your battery condition and charging system.
Wiring Best Practices
- Keep power cables under 3 metres (10 feet) to minimise voltage drop
- Use heavy-duty ring terminals for all connections
- Wire directly to the battery terminals for the most reliable power supply
- Run heavy-gauge wire through a low-loss isolator if using a dual-battery system
